Firefighters Battle Large Field Fire In Brown County

(BROWN COUNTY) - At 12:40 p.m. Monday multiple fire departments were battling a field fire that had grown to more than 2 acres at the intersection of Spearsville and Bell roads.

Firefighters from Hamblen, Jackson, Fruitdale and Cordry Sweetwater departments in Brown County, as well as Trafalgar, Morgantown and DNR fire headquarters were called to the scene.

Nashville Fire was dispatched to protect homes in the area of Spearsville and Bittersweet roads.

At 12:57 p.m. Firefighters reported the fire had spread to about 6 acres and jumped a road.

Firefighters say waist-deep, heavy brush made it difficult to extinguish the flames

At 1:21 p.m. firefighters reported the fire was out and they were working hotspots. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
