(BROWNSTOWN) - Excessive heat began taking its toll Wednesday afternoon on those attending the Jackson County Fair.

Tammy Trueblood a paramedic with Jackson County Ambulance Service says they treated more than 20 kids with heat related injuries at the first aid station.

Fair board member Marion Reinbold said fair goers may want to consider coming a little later in the day to avoid some of the heat and added the heat has affected attendance. Attendance has been down about 15 percent.

One man was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after complaining of chest pain. So far, police have seen no problems, including any on the midway, where fights sometimes occur.

The fair closes Saturday.
