Columbus Watching Water Usage

Last updated on Sunday, July 1, 2012

(COLUMBUS) - Daily water usage for Columbus area residents has now doubled, with the extremely dry weather to blame.

Columbus Utilities Director Keith Reeves reports normal daily usage of 6 million gallons is now 13 million.

But even with increased water usage, Reeves said the city is fortunate to have a fresh water supply with several reserve wells to tap into.

Current capacity is projected at well over 20 million gallons per day but Reeves reminds residents to conserve as weather forecasts continue to indicate dry weather and increased demand.
