(PAYNETOWN) - Monroe Lake will celebrate National S’mores Day on Friday, August 10th, with afternoon and evening activities at Paynetown State Recreation Area.
The highlight is at 9 p.m., when visitors can taste all five finalists from a s'mores recipe competition and vote for a winner.
Other activities will include making "s'mores" refrigerator magnets from 1-5 p.m., making customized marshmallow toasting sticks from 6-8 p.m., and a marshmallow stacking contest at 8:30 p.m.
"It will be a fun evening around the campfire and a great activity for families," said Jill Vance, interpretive naturalist for Monroe Lake.

All activities are at the Paynetown Activity Center. Paynetown SRA is at 4840 South State Road 446, Bloomington.
There is a gate fee of $5 per in-state and $7 per out-of-state vehicle.
