Bloomington Woman Arrested After Stabbing Another Woman

(BLOOMINGTON) - Police arrested 39-year-old Kanya Bailey, of Bloomington, after they say she stabbed another woman in the leg with a knife during an argument over a man Friday afternoon in the hallway of an apartment building in the 2500 block of South Rockport Road.

Bailey was booked into the Monroe County Jail on a preliminary charge of felony battery. According to Bloomington Police Sgt. Dana Cole, the 40-year-old woman who was stabbed in the upper right thigh with a 3-inch folding knife, was treated and released from IU Health Bloomington Hospital, according to Bloomington police Sgt. Dana Cole.

Bailey told police she was attacked and had stabbed the other woman in self-defense, Cole says Bailey complained of pain, but refused medical treatment.

The 44-year-old man at the center of the argument told police that he considers the woman who was stabbed to be his current girlfriend, as he and Bailey have been having problems.

Bailey remained at the jail Saturday on a $10,000 surety, $500 cash bond.
