(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police arrested 11 people Wednesday morning in connection to an investigation into crack cocaine and heroin.

The arrests came after a three-month investigation into drugs at Southern Winds Inn Apartments, 3000 South Walnut Street.

Officers served the search warrants at 5:30 a.m. and seized a handgun, about 40 grams of heroin, 40 to 50 grams of cocaine and $5,100 in cash. Police officials estimate the street value of the drugs to be nearly $20,000.

"We believe that these arrests will have a significant impact on the availability of crack cocaine and heroin in Bloomington," Bloomington Police Chief Michael Diekhoff said in a news release.

Significant activity at the apartment complex at night was one of various details of the case that investigators noted. The suspects facing the most serious charges have addresses connected to Detroit and Battle Creek, Mich.
