Last updated on Wednesday, July 18, 2012

(BLOOMFIELD) - A Bloomfield man is facing a battery charge after allegedly striking a paramedic.

Sabrina Westfall, of the Greene County Daily World reports that Robbie P. Wonder, 50, is facing a class D felony charge of battery resulting in bodily injury on a health care provider.

Holt wrote in the probable cause he was dispatched to assist the Bloomfield Fire Department at an apartment on 100 W. Main Street.

Lynda Thornton of the Bloomfield Fire Department was on scene when he arrived, and she informed Holt Greene County Ambulance EMT Scott Fleck had been dispatched to Wonder's apartment for medical assistance because he had allegedly been choking.
Once Fleck was in the apartment, Wonder allegedly struck him in the face with a closed fist.

Wonder was being restrained when Holt arrived at the residence.

"Mr. Wonder had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person and breath. Wonder appeared to have soiled himself and his speech was extremely slurred and partially unintelligible at times," Holt noted in the probable cause.

Holt spoke to Fleck regarding the incident, and he informed Holt that while he was attempted to treat Wonder he allegedly became verbally abusive, at which time Fleck contacted law enforcement.

Fleck said that was when he was struck in the face by Wonder. Fleck added he was in his paramedic uniform, and properly identified himself to Wonder as he entered the residence.

Fleck sustained a cut to his lip, which Holt said was approximately one-fourth inch in length, and complained of pain to the area.

Holt noted there were several witnesses to the incident, and while at Greene County Jail Wonder admitted to striking Fleck.
