Bedford Man And Teens Arrested After Climbing On Bloomington Roof

Last updated on Monday, July 9, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police arrested 22-year-old Eric Bullock, of Bedford, after he admitted he took two 17-year-old boys onto Kirkwood Avenue rooftops to sightsee and play instruments Thursday night.

Abby Tonsing of the Herald Times reports that around 10 p.m., police received a report from a person who was in an alley near Nick's English Hut saying that people, carrying what looked like a pipe, were climbing up a ladder to the roofs of the businesses.

Bloomington Sgt. John Kovach says the ladder is protected by a security gate and a padlock.

As firefighters arrived to provide police with a ladder to retrieve the people from the roof, a witness told police they saw a man jump down the awning of Greetings and run.

In the meantime two 17-year-old boys climbed down the fire ladder.

The teens were charged with trespassing and released to their parents.

Police found Bullock hiding in some nearby weeds. Bullock told police he thought the roof top would be a cool place to sightsee and play his wooden instrument.

Bullock was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
