(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County 4-H Fair Queen Organizer Pat McKnight says nine contestants will take the stage in the Expo Hall Friday night.
The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and prizes from local businesses.
In addition to a queen, judges will choose a first runner-up and second runner-up. The contestants will vote on Miss Congeniality and the audience can cast votes for People's Choice. Crowning the 2012 queen will be 2011 queen Hannah Pritchett.
Candidates are judged on an interview with judges, personality and poise (50 percent). The remaining 50 percent is judged on how they model professional wear, an evening gown and their response to an on-stage question.
McKnight said the contestants have been practicing for a month. Once the fair starts, the fair queen is one busy lady, attending livestock shows and other fair events.
Also in the Expo Hall Friday will be the contests for Mini Miss and Little Miss. Eight girls in kindergarten through second grade will compete for Mini Miss. Six girls in grades 3-5 are vying for Little Miss. Judges will choose a Mini Miss queen and three princesses and a Little Miss queen and two princesses.

Grace Armstrong
18, MITCHELL
Parents: Dan and DeAnne Wade and Gary Armstrong.
School: 2012 Mitchell High School graduate; attending Butler University in the fall.
Activities/honors: Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services, Relay for Life, SADD, Special Olympics and Tri-Hi-Y.
Hobbies: Spending time with my family and friends. I also love to shop, camp and job shadow at Indiana University Health Bedford in the in-patient pharmacy.
Role model: My mother. She is the strongest and most understanding woman in the world. She has taught me everything I know, and I would be lost without her.
Goals: I hope to graduate from Butler with a doctorate in pharmacy and minor in chemistry to work in research for the cure for cancer.
Chelsey Nicole Hicks
18, BEDFORD
Parents: Belinda Hicks and the late Robert Hicks.
School: 2012 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School; will attend Indiana University-Southeast in the fall to major in international business.
Activities/honors: Attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School for nine years; member of the Lawrence County Swine Club; while at BNL received VIP two times, student of the month, graduated with academic honors, played tennis for two years, was a member of Spanish Club, ICARE and Science Club.
Hobbies: Spending time with my friends and family, shopping and being on the lake.
Role model: My Nana Jo.
Goals: My No. 1 goal is to graduate from college and get a successful job.
Natalie Brooke Juhl
17, HELTONVILLE
Parents: Audi Baer and Chris Juhl.
School: Completed junior year at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
Activities/honors: 4-H, FFA, Starlets (show choir) and Beta Club.
Hobbies: Riding horses, baking and scrapbooking.
Role model: My mother. She has always been there for me and always has great advice when I am in need.
Goals: I plan to got to college and become a pharmacist.
Hannah Marie Meadows
19, BEDFORD
Parents: Toran Meadows and Teresa Meadows.
School: Completed senior year at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
Activities/honors: 10-year member of Lawrence County 4-H, attends First Assembly of God church and works in the garden.
Hobbies: I enjoy reading, fishing, playing the drums, and taking care of my 4-H pigs.
Role model: My mother.
Goals: To graduate from the University of Southern Indiana, and to go on a missions trip to Africa soon.
Olivia Shirley
17, BEDFORD
Parents: Mark and Stephanie Mason and Dale Shirley.
School: Completed junior year at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
Activities/honors: Member and president of the BNL FFA chapter and an eight-year member of Lawrence County 4-H.
Hobbies: Swimming, baking, working with animals and being involved in 4-H and FFA.
Role Model: My mom.
Goals: Upon completion of high school, I plan on attending the University of Southern Indiana to gain a bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography.
Dasha Tuddy
18, BEDFORD
Parents: Sheila and Ronald Tuddy.
School: 2012 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School.
Activities/honors: Three years of varsity soccer and track, eight years in Lawrence County 4-H, junior leader.
Hobbies: Running, playing soccer, swimming, making bracelets and spending time with family and friends.
Role model: My little cousin Chasity Beavers. She is my role model because she is mentally disabled and is still the strongest girl I know. She excels at everything she does and gets braver and stronger every day.
Goals: Attend Robert Morris University in the fall and graduate in four years with a major in medical assisting and a minor in business.
Laken Waggoner
20, BEDFORD
Parents: Mike and Laura Waggoner.
School: Completed freshman year at Indiana University.
Activities/honors: Showing quarter horses and giving riding lessons.
Hobbies: Playing tennis and spending time with friends.
Role model: My older sister, Lacy Waggoner, because she has accomplished so much at an early age.
Goals: After attaining my bachelor's degree in nursing, I hope to work as a traveling nurse before going back to school to become a nurse practitioner.
Sarah Werley
16, BEDFORD
Parents: Brett and Heidi Werley.
School: Just completed grade 10 at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
Activities/honors: 4-H; Girl Scouts; LCA and BNL swim teams; Fayetteville Baptist Proteen; lifeguarding, BNL orchestra and choir; BNL class awards in biology and geometry, S.T.A.R.S. award, two varsity letters in BNL swimming, recognized as an "Outstanding Youth" by the Bedford Lions Club.
Hobbies: Sewing, singing, cake decorating and geocaching.
Role model: Coach Marc McCay.
Goals: Attend college and receive a degree in marine biology.
Lauren Werner
18, BEDFORD
Parents: James and Tobey Werner.
School: 2012 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School; attending Vincennes University in the fall.
Activities/honors: Showing horses for the past 10 years in Lawrence County 4-H; dancing at Callahan's Dance Academy; cheering for BNL; volunteering at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital and Bliss House; BNL Rennaissance Club; Beta Club; Health Occupations Students of America president and club member for two years; and give horse riding lessons to children in grade 3 and up.
Hobbies: Training, riding and showing horses; dancing; and having fun with my family and friends.
Role model: My mom. She has taught me to be responsible, outgoing, loving and to be myself. She always puts others before herself and is a friend to everyone. She is everything I want to be and more. And I would like to thank her because she has made me into the woman I am today and what I'm going to be in the future.
Goals: I plan on attending Vincennes University in the fall to get a bachelor's degree in nursing. Once I graduate from Vincennes, I plan on furthering my goals by becoming a traveling nurse.
