Last updated on Friday, July 6, 2012

(BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY) - A 4-year-old girl was airlifted to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis after nearly drowning at a private residence in Bartholomew County late Tuesday.

Party goers in the 10000 block of County Road 225 South noticed that Makena Baker was in danger in the pool.

17-year-old Alex Rhoades along with Nelson Hand helped get the girl out of the pool.

Rhoades began CPR and Baker coughed up water within a few minutes. Rhoades told officers he was trained with CPR while in Boy Scouts.

The investigation is ongoing.
