Last updated on Monday, June 18, 2012

(BROWN CO.) - A woman is dead after a tree fell on her while she was riding a horse at Brown County State Park Sunday afternoon.

Indiana Conservation Officers say Chelsea Ann Lovett, 20, of Granger, Indiana, was leading a trail guide through the woods when a dead tree fell and caught the limb of another tree, which then fell and hit Lovett.

Lovett was employed as a trail guide by the Brown County Guided Trail Ride concessionaire at the Saddle Barn in the park.

The guided trail ride started at the Saddle Barn on the north end of the park property.
Lovett was killed shortly into the ride, according to the release from DNR.
The victim died at the scene.

A second person was transported to Bloomington Hospital with minor injuries sustained when thrown from a horse when the incident occurred.

Agencies also on the scene include the Columbus Regional Hospital Ambulance, Nashville Fire Department, Nashville Police Department, and Brown County State Park personnel with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of State Parks and Reservoirs.

Information will be updated as it becomes available.
