(SEYMOUR) - A 23-year-old Seymour man continues to recover from injuries he received Friday after a wreck involving his bicycle and a pickup on the city’s east side.
"He was moved from ICU to a private room on Sunday," Myra Snowden said of her fiancé, Joshua L.
Christie.
Aubrey Woods, of the Tribune reports, Christie was flown to Methodist Hospital after the incident reported at 3:16 p.m. Friday on Jack-son Park Drive south of Tipton Street.
The 2000 GMC Sonoma pickup involved in the wreck was driven by William H. VanSlyke, 59, of North Vernon. He was not injured, according to Officer John Watson's report.
VanSlyke told police he was driving north on Jackson Park Drive, approaching Tipton Street, and that Christie was riding his bicycle southeast among traffic and that he could not stop in time to prevent him from hitting Christie, Watson said.
Witnesses said that Christie had been on the west side of Jackson Park Drive and was riding his bicycle between stopped vehicles when the wreck occurred, Watson reported.
Christie, who lives in the 300 block of South Jackson Park Drive, sustained head injuries and was treated and taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour before being flown to Methodist Hospital.
Christie was listed in good condition Monday after he underwent surgery on Saturday. He had been in critical condition in intensive care.
"He is up and walking now," Snowden said.
