(SALEM) - A Salem couple has been charged in connection with a graduation party at their home over the weekend at which numerous teens were found to have been drinking.

Stephanie Taylor Ferriell of the Leader-Democrat reports that John Mahuron and Laura Mahuron are both charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class A misdemeanor. Laura Mahuron is a teacher at Salem Middle School and has been employed with Salem Community Schools 12 years.

Prosecutor Dustin Houchin filed the charges Thursday morning in Washington Superior Court.

If convicted, the most time the Mahurons could be sentenced to is one year, he said.

An anonymous tip was called in to the county's 911 dispatch center early Sunday morning, reporting an alleged graduation party at the Mahurons' 1665 Rush Creek Rd. residence. Police arrived 12 minutes after receiving the call and found numerous teens present, along with alcohol in plain sight.

One juvenile, who appeared extremely intoxicated, was transported by ambulance to St. Vicent Salem Hospital for treatment.

Several teens fled into the woods when they saw the police cars. A few were caught. They, along with those present, were all administered portable breath tests, then released when their parents were called to come pick them up.

Nobody was arrested at the scene.

The Mahurons have been issued a summons and ordered to appear in court at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, June 25.

Also charged in the case are 11 teens over the age of 18, who tested positive for alcohol. Houchin said each is charged with minor consumption, a Class C misdemeanor.

The following 18-year-olds are charged with minor consumption, a Class C misdemeanor:

  • Sarah A. Baer
  • Jacob Morehead
  • Landon S. Winslow
  • Samantha Jo Spaulding
  • Callie L. Bills
  • Erica L. Ewen
  • Tyler L. Robinson
  • Kelsey Ann Brown
  • Dillon K. Gray
  • Andrew Thomas
  • Kassidy R. Smith
