New Principals At North Lawrence Schools

(BEDFORD) - New principals will greet students this fall at five North Lawrence schools.

The school board unanimously approved those appointments and a host of other personnel moves.

At Bedford North Lawrence High School, Roger Dean will become the new principal. He had held the top post at Shawswick Middle School.

David Beaver, current BNL building manager, will return to his previous job as an assistant principal, dealing with discipline and other issues. Dan Dyke and Steve Underwood will remain as assistant principals.

At Shawswick, Jim Pentzer will move up from the elementary school principal to Dean's former slot as middle school chief.

Aaron Ritter will transfer from being a BMS language arts teacher to the principal's office at Shawswick Elementary.

Kelly Storms will move from the assistant principal's role at BMS to the top spot at Stalker. She will replace Laura Charles.

Charles is moving to the principal's desk at Springville Elementary School, succeeding the retiring Robert Stipp.

The board named Amanda May to be the principal at Parkview Intermediate School. She replaces Mark Vice, who will move into a new position for a NLCS director of learning, instruction and curriculum assessment

But there are still two openings for administrators.

The Parkview Primary School principal's job remains open after the retirement of Steve Ray, and the BMS assistant principal's job is open after Storms' move.

The board approved hiring:

Elizabeth Felts, English/language arts teacher at Bedford North Lawrence High School .
Jessica Lowry, first-grade teacher at Parkview Primary School .

Linda Raab, temporary English/language arts teacher at BNL .

Kayla Smolik, art instructor at BNL.

Transfers

The board approved transferring:

Michelle Endris, from fourth-grade teacher to fifth-grade teacher at Parkview Intermediate School.

Angie Godsey, from Title I Prime Time instructional assistant to Title I instructional assistant at Needmore.

Janine Gould, from part-time resource instructional assistant to full-time resource instructional assistant at Needmore.

Carrie Hardesty, from fifth-grade teacher to fourth-grade teacher at Stalker Elementary School.

Tricia Malone, from first-grade teacher at Stalker to third-grade teacher at Springville Elementary School.

Extracurricular

The board approved hiring:

Curt Alvey, Chris Anderson, Dennis Kissinger and Jerry Chaney as summer baseball coaches from June 4 through July 14.

Brooke Dille as Shawswick Elementary dance team coach.

Lacy Hawkins as sponsor for BNL Students Against Destructive Decisions.

Mandie Jones as Shawswick Middle School sixth-grade cheer coach.

Lu Kuerhn as Fayetteville Elementary School cheer coach.

Stefanie Lambrecht as Parkview Intermediate School girls basketball coach.

Heather Prince as Shawswick Elementary School cheer coach.

Peggy Taylor as North Lawrence middle school girls golf coach.
