Man Dies After Being Thrown From Moped

Last updated on Thursday, June 14, 2012

(BEDFORD) - 44-year-old David Wayne Miller, 44, was the mo-ped rider who was killed in a wreck on Riverbluff Road Tuesday.

Police were able to notify Miller's family late Tuesday night. Initially police did not know the name of the rider, who had no identification with him.

Lawrence County Coroner John Sherrill says Miller, who was not wearing a helmet, died of a head injury. Toxicology tests are pending.

According to a Bedford Police Report report, Miller was found lying in a driveway in the 3400 block of Riverbluff Road and his Ruckus moped was partially in the driveway next to him.

According to police for some unknown reason the moped left the roadway while negotiating a curve on the northside of the property on Riverbluff Road.

The moped then hit a row of concrete decorative blocks which caused Miller to be thrown from the moped. Miller landed in the driveway.

Police say there were no witnesses to the wreck and ask anyone that may have seen the accident to call police.

Assisting at the scene were the Bedford Fire Department and an IU Health ambulance crew.
