(SALEM) - After its driver lost control, a car traveled 450 feet on Voyles Road, slid sideways, then flipped, landing on its top.
The crash was reported at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, said Captain Roger Newlon of the Washington County Sheriff's Department. Newlon said Terry Bodytko, 54, Mt. Washington, Ky., had crawled through a window of the 2007 Ford Focus, and was out of the vehicle when officers arrived.
Bodytko was flown from the scene by air ambulance to University of Louisville Hospital, but was released later that night, said Newlon.
He said the crash occurred about 75 feet north of the Floyd-Washington county line near the intersection of New Bear Creek Road. As Bodytko came over the hillcrest at New Bear Creek, he lost control of the vehicle, running off the right side of the road, then coming back onto the roadway before going into the long slide.
Newlon said speed was a factor.
The car was registered to a woman in Lanesville, but Bodytko apparently had permission to drive it. The vehicle was a total loss.
The investigation is continuing.
