(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested for burglary Saturday morning after residents on the 400 block of South Grant Street returned home and found the suspect asleep on a couch in their basement with alleged plans to steal a video game controller.
Suspect Daimon L. Thompson, 23, was arrested by officers from the Bloomington Police Department at about 7:04 a.m. Saturday, Lt. Faron Lake said. Thompson was booked into the Monroe County Jail at about 7:35 a.m. and remains in jail with a $20,000 surety bond or $500 cash bond.
Lake said that when the residents of the apartment came home, they found Thompson sleeping on the couch in their basement. Police arrived at the residence, pulled the blanket off Thompson and woke him. In his pocket, Thompson was allegedly concealing a video game controller stolen from the residence, Lake said.
Thompson told police he was at a party at the residence Friday night but returned to the residence Saturday to visit. The residents of the apartment did not know Thompson, Lake said.
According to police records, Lake said Thompson has been arrested or a suspect in 20 criminal cases.
Indiana court records indicate Thompson was charged twice in 2008 for conversion.
For theft of the video game controller, Thompson is being charged with burglary, a B felony.
