Last updated on Sunday, May 20, 2012

(BEDFORD) Hoosier Forest Supervisor Melany Glossa has announced that Chris Zimmer has been selected as the new District Ranger for the Brownstown and Tell City Districts of the Hoosier National Forest. He will report to work on the Hoosier June 4th.

Glossa said, "Chris worked on the Hoosier during the fall and winter for a four-month detail so many people met with him at that time. It gave us all a chance to learn what a valuable asset he will be to our Forest and we're looking forward to having him back."

Zimmer is currently an Assistant Ranger on the Finger Lakes National Forest in western New York. During his career he has worked on the Olympic National Forest in Washington, the Targhee NF in Idaho, and the Gila National Forest in New Mexico. He also served for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala.

Zimmer noted, "I'm excited to be moving to Indiana and hope to compliment the great staff working at our Bedford and Tell City offices." He added he looks forward to meeting more of the many partners that contribute to managing the valuable resources within and surrounding the Hoosier.

Zimmer has a bachelor's degree in Forest Management from the University of Massachusetts. He will be stationed at the Tell City Ranger District office but will also work regularly in the Bedford office.
