Last updated on Wednesday, May 16, 2012

(BLOOMFIELD) - A Solsberry man will be in Greene Superior Court on Friday morning for an initial hearing on charges that he allegedly battered and strangled his wife.

Nick Schneider, of the Greene County Daily World, reports that Jonathan F. Miller will be formally charged in the 9:30 a.m. initial hearing with strangulation - a class D felony; and domestic battery - a class A misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy James O'Malley, Miller and is wife got into a dispute that allegedly turned violent on May 6.

The wife said her husband placed his hands around her throat, threw her onto a chair, scratched her face and threatened to hit her with a hammer after he shattered a glass tabletop, according to the affidavit.

She alleged that Jonathan Miller took her car keys and cell phone when he left the residence on foot to prevent her from contacting authorities.

The wife also alleged that her husband stood in the doorway to prevent her from leaving the residence, but she pushed him aside and ran to a neighbor's home.
She then contacted the sheriff's department.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Deputy O'Malley observed some injuries on the wife.

"She had a scratch on the left side of her face, redness and flaking of skin on both sides of her throat and small cut on her pinky finger," O'Malley wrote in the affidavit.
