Railroad Crossing Rehab Project Will Affect Motorists

Last updated on Friday, May 11, 2012

(JACKSON COUNTY) - Motorists in the Peters Switch area in northern Jackson County will be affected by two railroad crossing rehabilitation projects.

Julie Wehmiller, office manager for the county highway department, said County Road 790 East will be closed at County Road 975 North for about a week begin¬ning Monday because of the rehabilitation of the Louisville & Indiana Railroad crossing.

The railroad tracks also cross County Road 975 North just north of County Road 760 East, but that crossing is not part of the project, Weh¬miller said. For three or four days beginning May 21, there will be a second project to rehabilitate a rail crossing on County Road 1000 North.

Wehmiller said offi¬cials with Seymour Community Schools and the sheriff's depart¬ment have been notified of the closings.
