Last updated on Thursday, May 3, 2012

(VAN BUREN TWP.) - A search of a home in Van Buren Township turned up ingredients for a meth lab and resulted in the arrests of two people, police said.

According to news releases from the Indiana State Police and the Brown County Sheriff's Office, officers from multiple agencies served a search obtained by Brown County Det. Scott Southerland at 6929 Hamilton Creek Road on April 27.

Officers, including those from the ISP Methamphetamine Suppression Section, reported discovering meth and numerous items that are consistent with manufacturing the drug inside a garage on the property.

Police arrested two residents, 41-year-old Marvin Murphy and 40-year-old Amy Ripberger, on charges of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of precursors and possession of methamphetamine.

Murphy also was charged with resisting law enforcement.
The release noted that officers found muriatic acid, an HCL generator, a tank containing anhydrous ammonia, approximately a half-gram of finished methamphetamine and several additional articles used to make meth.

Police also recovered property believed to be stolen from a location in Jackson County, according to the news release. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search.

Murphy and Ripberger were booked into the Brown County Jail at 4 and 9 p.m., respectively. Ripberger bonded out two days later at 7:10 p.m., and two hours after that, Murphy freed himself on bond.

Anyone with information on people suspected of manufacturing meth is encouraged to call ISP Master Trooper Jon Patrick, Trooper Josh Allen or Trooper Kent Rohlfing at (812) 332-4411.
