Mitchell Man Hurt After Backhoe Hits Semi

Last updated on Friday, May 11, 2012

(MITCHELL) - 75-year-old Russell Beasley, of Mitchell, suffered head pain after he drove a backhoe into a Kenworth semi truck.

According to a Lawrence County Police report Beasley was driving a backhoe east on Ind. 60 when he turned the equipment into a passing Kenworth semi driven by 51-year-old Daniel Brown, of Mitchell, Wednesday night.

Brown told police he was behind the backhoe and a pickup truck, which had its flashers on, and was attempting to pass the vehicles when Beasley started to make a left turn and ran into the semi.

Brown swerved to miss the backhoe, which caused the semi to jack-knife and hit a parked car owned by James Wyatt. The bucket of the back hoe hit the semi.
