(BIRDSEYE) - A Greenfield man is in custody in Dubois County following a traffic accident last night southeast of Birdseye.
The Dubois County Sheriff's office says 41-year old Mark Taylor was traveling on the Birdseye Loop shortly before 8 last night. He told deputies he swerved to miss a deer. His pickup truck went off the road, down an embankment and into a ditch.
During their investigation, deputies found a loaded 9mm handgun in the backseat of the truck for which Taylor had no permit.
He was also charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Deputies say he his blood alcohol level tested .17 percent.
Taylor was not hurt in the accident, nor was a passenger in the truck with him.
