Last updated on Monday, May 28, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana Conservation Officer Kevin Connor stopped a boat on Monroe Reservoir Saturday when he saw a person riding on the gunwale, which is a safety violation.

He arrested 28-year-old Philip Thomas, of Anderson, when he failed a field sobriety test. He was taken to the Monroe county jail on charges of operating a motorboat while intoxicated and operating with a blood alcohol content of .08.

Indiana Conservation will continue to be on the lookout for unsafe boaters throughout the boating season.

Anyone seeing possible unsafe boating practices is asked to contact the Indiana Conservation Officer's Central Dispatch at (812) 837-9536.
