(BEDFORD) - Jamie Wires, shelter director at White River Humane Society, says the shelter is organizing a spay/neuter transport to Pets Alive for cats and pitbulls and pitbull mixed breeds.

For cats, the male or female surgery is $20 and a rabies vaccination is $12. The surgery on pitbulls is free and a rabies shot is $12. The transport day is May 29.

"We can send 50 cats and 10 pitbull/pitbull mixes that day. Deadline for registration is May 23 and people need to come to the shelter to register," said Wires. "The more of these pets we get fixed, the less we will have coming in later, and this is such a good deal."

If you have a cat or qualifying pitbull to register, call 279-2457.
