Diver Finds Man's Body Found In River

Last updated on Tuesday, May 15, 2012

(WASHINGTON) - 28-year-old Larry Worldan, of Bicknell, is presumed dead after driving his four-wheeler into the west fork of the White River late Saturday night.

Indiana Conservation Officers believe they found his body late Monday afternoon and are in the process of recovering it.

Daviess County Sheriff Department divers were running a grid pattern about 3 p.m. Monday in attempt to locate its exact position in the river.

According to police Worldan and his 23-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany Darrow, of Vincennes, were riding four-wheelers with several friends on the river bed. The group of riders made a right turn down a path into a field. As Worldan made the turn he hit some high grass and went airborne over a high bank and they and the 4-wheeler went into the river. Since the couple were the last riders in the group it took some time before they noticed the two were not with them.

Darrow told police they both were in the river yelling for help but they soon got separated. Police say Darrow was able to swim to shore, but Worldan didn't make it to shore.

Divers did locate the 4-wheeler using sonar equipment on Sunday afternoon.

Sheriff Jerry Harbstreit said the victim's family has been keeping vigil as authorities search for his body.
