(MITCHELL) - Doug Thomas will coach the boys varsity basketball at Mitchell High School and Matt Sowders will replace Clarissa Gross at the girls varsity basketball coach.
Both are graduates of Mitchell High School. Thomas will also teach economics and government.
The Mitchell School board voted unanimously to hire both men in a special session Thursday night.
Thomas will come to Mitchell from Brown County High School, where he currently works as a social studies teacher and serves as the assistant varsity boys basketball coach.
Sowders, who lives in Mitchell, is a physical education teacher at Shoals High School and will keep his teaching job there. He also coached the girls varsity basketball team at Shoals.
