(BLOOMFIELD) - Two people have been airlifted to hospitals following a car-school bus accident around 4 p.m. today on State Road 157.

The accident occurred just west of the Calvertsville curve on State Road 157, north of Bloomfield and east of Worthington. The Bloomfield bus -- No. 1 -- had just dropped off a student, according to an official at the scene.

Superintendent Dan Sichting was at the scene.

The two people airlifted for medical aid were both travelling in the car - a male driver and female passenger.

According to officials at the scene, the man was able to exit the car by himself, but the female had to be freed by firefighters.

There is no immediate report on the condition of the students on the bus.

According to reporters from the Greene County Daily World the car rear-ended the bus, and the entire front end of the car was lodged underneath the bus. The car's hood was in the front seating area.

The accident is being worked by Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Brad Deckard, with assistance from the Indiana State Police, Worthington Police Department, and Worthington Fire and Rescue.

This report will be updated when additional information becomes available.
