Bedford Woman Arrested After Confrontation With Police

Last updated on Wednesday, May 16, 2012

(BEDFORD) - 22-year-old Audra Mason, of Bedford, was arrested after she became loud and uncooperative with Bedford police officer.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to a home in the 1600 block of M Street after neighbors complained of a domestic fight.

"When officers arrived they found Miss. Mason yelling obscenities," he said. "She refused to cooperate with officer and would not identify herself."

Parsley says a bystander told officer the woman was Mason.

"Officers repeatedly asked her to calm down," Pasley said. "Several of the neighbors were coming out of their homes to see what was going on. Mason was arrested. She again refused to cooperate and would not walk to the police car and had to be placed in the car by officers."

While at the Bedford Police Department Mason again became combative and was hitting officers.

"She was then taken to the Lawrence County Jail, where again she would not be cooperative and was combative," Parsley said. "She had to be placed in a confinement cell, until she would calm down."

Mason was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and failure to identify and criminal mischief.
