(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police officers arrested 19-year-old John David Burton, of Bedford, after he got into a fight with his father.

John Burton was charged with battery causing injury and intimidation with a deadly weapon.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, police were called to a home in the 2600 block of H Street at 10:47 p.m. on a complaint of a battery.

"The father and son were in a verbal argument over the son's lifestyle," Parsley says. "The fight became physical and the son punched his father and threatened him with a knife."

The father filed a battery complaint against his son and Burton was arrested. Burton was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and was still there this morning.

Parsley says John Burton has filed a counter battery complaint against his father.

"The case is still under investigation at this time," Parsley says.
