(INDIANAPOLIS) - Prader-Willi Syndrome of Indiana will have a 5K run/walk May 19 at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis to raise funds for and awareness about the genetic disorder that affects 1 of every 12,000-15,000 births.

It typically causes low muscle tone, short stature (if not treated with growth hormone), behavior problems, developmental delays and a chronic feeling of hunger.

Brady Johnson along with his parents, Bret and Michelle of Bedford and other family members, will attend the walk.

The walk begins at 10 a.m. with same day registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Participants also can register at www.pwsaindiana.org.

There will also be a 1-mile family walk, silent auction and kid-friendly activities.
All individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome will receive a medal along with the top female and male finishers.

Participants are invited to bring a picnic lunch and stay for activities, including a visit from Boomer, the Pacers mascot, and a DJ following the event.

Corporate sponsors and items for the silent auction are also needed.

To become a sponsor or donate to the silent auction, email Bret Johnson, johnsontb@comcast.net. For information about the 5K or to register online, visit www.pwsaindiana.org.
