(COLUMBUS) - Two men have been arrested after 60 bronze vases were stolen from a Columbus cemetery.

The vases, which cost about $200 each, were discovered missing from the mausoleum at the Garland Brook Cemetery on Saturday morning.

Most of the stolen vases lined the outer walls of the mausoleum, sitting next to plaques with the names of the deceased.

An area scrap yard notified police Tuesday morning after they said two men tried to sell several bronze vases for scrap metal.

Rickey Cross, 50, of Bartholomew County, and Dustin Newland, 32, of Columbus, were arrested during a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they have recovered about half of the stolen vases.

Cross was preliminarily charged with possession of stolen property. Newland was preliminarily charged with theft.
