(ORLEANS) - The Orange County REMC and the Orleans Police Department are teaming up to provide training for local police officers.

The Orange County REMC is opening the doors to its training room and allowing the Orleans Police Department to present valuable training to local police officers.

Orleans Police Chief Roy McFarland explains that every police officer in the state of Indiana is required to have continuing education and that by being able to provide this training locally it greatly reduces the expenses incurred and keeps the officers closer to home so that in the event of an emergency officers would still be available to respond.

Notices of the training are sent to all of the area departments inviting them to attend. The
program began in February and has been quite successful.
