Mitchell Man Cited After Leaving The Scene Of An Accident

(MItchell) - A Mitchell man was injured after he crashed into a utility pole Thursday night.

According to a Lawrence County Police report 47-year-old Matthew Vanmeter, 2929 Meridian Road, was traveling north on Meridian Road and attempted to turn onto Burton Lane when he missed his turn and hit a utility pole.

Vanmeter called a friend to have them tow his 1998 Ford Ranger.

A resident, who saw the accident called police.

Vanmeter told police he was leaving the scene because he was afraid he would get in trouble because his driver's license was suspended.

Vanmeter suffered abrasions, but refused medical treatment.

Vanmerter was cited to appear in court on May 14th for driving while his license was suspended and leaving the scene of an accident.
