Greene County General Hospital Website More User Friendly

Last updated on Friday, April 20, 2012

(BLOOMFIELD) - In the technological age, information about Greene County General Hospital (GCGH) is now available at the tip of your fingers.

Sabrina Westfall, of the Greene County Daily World reoprts, still at the same web address - www.greenecountyhospital.com - the website is more user friendly and easy to navigate.

"Nowadays, everyone goes online and researches before they buy anything, and the same goes for patients. We wanted to have something that looks nice and is informative," GCGH Director of Marketing and Human Resources Corey Sparks explained.

Sparks said many people don't realize the range of medical capabilities GCGH offers, including the growing radiology equipment.

"There are a lot of things people don't realize we do, and spending time on the website will show they don't have to go to Indianapolis or Bloomington for treatment," Sparks said.

The GCGH website has also incorporated detailed information about each of the three Greene County Health sites in Linton, Bloomfield and Worthington.

The website features information about each department of the hospital, as well as photos of the doctors.

The "About Us" section tells of the history of the hospital - originally Freeman Hospital established in 1912 on the corner of Fourth and NE A Streets -- lists the board of directors, department heads and some fast facts.

Each department is described in the "Services" tab, along with photos from each of several employees.

"(Marketing Coordinator) Halea (Franklin) did a lot of work to get the information for the website," Sparks said, noting she took photos as well.

Each of the three Greene County Health offices - Linton, Bloomfield and Worthington - are featured with photos and descriptive information about the doctors at each office.
The website also offers a list of career opportunities as they become available.

There are also frequent updates about the hospital's growth - including the hospital's recently announced expansion Emergency Room Plan.

Sparks said he was pleased with the work Charles Garwood, of New Deal Multimedia, had done on the programming side of the website's construction.

"This is something we will definitely grow as we continue to evolve. This is just a start for that section," Sparks said.

Sparks said he has plans to expand the website, by eventually allowing electronic donations to the GCGH Foundation and bill payments.

He would also like to see the website allow electronic cards or condolences sent to hospital patients.

"I think this is just a start, and hopefully we will have stories to put on there and keep it fresh," Sparks said.
