(SALEM) - The ever-popular Home & Garden Show, sponsored by Leader Publishing Company, returns to the fairgrounds this weekend.

Admission is free.

The show kicks off Friday night, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday's hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Numerous vendors will be on hand, offering virtually anything and everything you could need for your home and garden projects and much more. From roofing to mini barns to windows, you'll find ideas for sprucing up your home. There's also many vendors focused on personal wellness, from chiropractic care to fitness to beauty to getting your finances in order, you can find it all at the Home & Garden Show.

The door prizes are always a big draw and they won't disappoint this year, promises LPC General Manager Rhonda Smith. Prizes include a lawn cart filled with gardening supplies, a poly lumber lounge chair, wooden hall tree, gas grill and ratchet set. "You don't have to be present to win," noted Smith. The door prize drawing is set to begin at 1:30 Saturday.

Plenty of food will be available both days. The Salem Lions Club will hold a fish fry Friday night. Saturday, Westview Christian Church will be serving breakfast and lunchy. Papa John's Pizza, homemade ice cream, bloomin' onions and funnel cakes will also be available.

Smith said there are several new attractions this year. "The show will be fun for the whole family - there's something for every age!" A pie and cake bakeoff will be held Friday (call 883-1566 for info) and there will be music at the gazebo. Saturday, kids can enjoy a bouncy house and a cornhole tournment is scheduled. Proceeds will benefit the Eastern High School tornado relief fund. Call 620-2517 for info.

The annual show, a local kickoff of sorts to spring, is benefical for local merchants and is a fun social event many anticipate from year to year.

"We are so pleased to once again offer this event for Washington County," said Smith. "The Home & Garden Show has become one of those events many people talk about and look forward to all year long.

"It's grown tremendously since it's start many years ago and we look forward to another great year!"
