Denny's Coming To Bedford

Last updated on Thursday, April 12, 2012

(BEDFORD) - Members of the Bedford Plan Commission Tuesday afternoon approved Steak ‘n Shake’s request for a minor subdivision south of its facility at 1035 James Ave.

Denny's Restaurant plans to purchase the property and open a store at the new site.

The board also granted a special exception to Derek Stutz to add a car lot to his business, Simply Clean, at 1237 22nd St.

Kirk provided the commission with updates on preliminary plans for a proposed medical building on Shawnee Drive behind Great Escape Theatres. He said details of that project are still vague.

Kirk brought commission members up to speed regarding local business activities, including: the development of Stone Cutters Cafe and Roastery at 919 15th St.; Mandy Hazen opening Rust and Roses Vintage Wares at 1701 I St.; Custom Party Outlets' plans to move into the building next to the former Buehler's store on James Avenue; and Radio Shack's plan to shift from its site at 1305 James Ave. to Williams Crossing.

He also noted both Greystone Coffee House at 905 15th St. and The Stone Pig Smokehouse, a new barbecue restaurant at 1539 J St., are both open. TomCat Pawn is adding on to its site at 2929 Mitchell Road, and Patty and Greg Lane will station their Huey's Barbecue trailer at Sycamore Square on 16th Street this summer.
