(COLUMBUS) - 45-year-old Shawn Davis, of Columbus, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for having an illegal drug lab in a car he was driving in April 2010.

He was charged with possession of meth, operating an illegal drug lab and illegal possession of anhydrous ammonia. He pleaded guilty in February to the drug lab charge after prosecutors agreed to drop the other charges.

Bartholomew Circuit Court Judge Stephen Heimann ordered a three-year prison sentence, suspending 18 months of it.

Davis will serve the suspended time on probation and be placed with Community Corrections, which can include work release, electronic monitoring, counseling and educational programs.

The judge said Davis' criminal record, which includes 19 criminal convictions and juvenile adjudications, aggravated Davis' sentence.

Davis also was ordered to pay $1,298.65 in restitution to the Indiana State Police for disposing of the meth lab components. He must pay restitution at a rate of $25 a week, with the first payment due four months after his release from prison.
