AT&T Flipping LTE In Bloomington Sunday

Last updated on Thursday, April 5, 2012

(UNDATED) - AT&T confirmed today that they will be flipping the LTE switch on three new markets starting on Sunday.

They also plan on adding nine additional markets, but not information was given as far as when.

When all of these are completed, it will bring AT&T's coverage to about 40 total markets across the U.S., which is still trailing far behind Verizon's planned 400-market roll-out by the end of the year, but ahead of Sprint's yet to be born LTE network.

According to Wikipedia, 3GPP Long Term Evolution, referred to as LTE and marketed as 4G LTE, is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals.

Starting this Sunday, Bloomington and Muncie, Indiana, as well as Bryan-College Station, Texas, will light up using the service.
