(BLOOMFIELD) - 46-year-old Deborah Byers of rural Bloomfield will face charges of obstruction of justice and failure to stop after an accident resulting in damage to an unattended vehicle after being involved in a hit-and-run accident. (GC Daily World)

She will appear in Greene County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. on March 7th. Byers is accused of driving a 2003 Cadillac Escalade and hitting a 2008 Ford Mustang owned by Randall Crowe.

Crowe had parked his car on South Franklin Street on Feb. 25th. Police say the impact of the crash moved the Mustang almost five feet, causing significant damage to the rear driver's side quarter panel and trunk. There was also a large piece of white plastic trim from another vehicle that was stuck in the rear driver's side wheel well.

The obstruction of justice charge came when police officers went to the Byers' home and could not get her to answer repeated knocks on two doors. Officers say they saw Byers inside the home through a window.

Officers then tried to contact her by telephone at both her home and cell numbers, but there was no answer.

A search warrant was then obtained from Circuit Judge Erik Allen to gain access to Byers' vehicle.

Officers from the Bloomfield PD and Greene County Sheriff's Department then returned to Byers' residence and again tried to persuade Byers to open the door.

With no response, officers then used a battering ram to force open the garage walk-through door.

Byers was located in a lower level bedroom and the Cadillac was located in the garage.

She told police she was scared and didn't want to open the door.

She was arrested and taken to jail. She was released after posting $4,500 bond.
