(BLOOMFIELD) - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a rural Linton man, who allegedly spit on two police officers as they were trying to restrain him after admitting he was "high" on bath salts.

Drake Douglas Hobbs, 31, of Route 3, Linton, will be charged with two counts of battery by bodily waste on a law enforcement officer - both class D felonies.

Nick Schneider, of the Greene County Daily World reported that on March 14, Linton Police Department officers Thomas A. Jerrells, Michael Watts, Chad Crynes and reserve officer Kent Medlock were dispatched to Hobbs' residence on County Road 1225W at about 11:18 p.m. on a report of an "out of control" male subject.

When officers arrived they saw Hobbs running and shouting in the yard. He was swearing heavily and was paranoid, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene Circuit Court by LPD officer Jerrells.

The four officers restrained Hobbs after he was caught running in the yard.

"Drake had a very combative attitude and was not complying with orders from any of the officers," Jerrells wrote in the probable cause affidavit. "Drake advised that he had taken a 'Hot Shot'. When I asked him what that was, he said it was bath salts."

As Hobbs was being placed on a cot to be transported to Greene County General Hospital in Linton for an examination, the assault with body waste took place.

"I was talking to Drake trying to calm him down. Drake looked at me, opened his mouth and spit salvia onto my face," Jerrells wrote in the court document. "I backed away from Drake after he spit. Drake proceeded to open his mouth and spit salvia at Officer Michael Watts' face. The salvia made contact with Officer Watts' stomach and chest area."
