Syfy Paranormal Stars To Visit Whispers Estate In Mitchell

Last updated on Friday, March 9, 2012

(MITCHELL) - Whispers Estate in Mitchell will receive a visit by two Syfy channel paranormal stars this weekend as a fundraiser for the Lost Limbs Foundation.

The event will be Saturday afternoon at Spring Mill Inn. The scene then will shift to Whispers Estate for a VIP only meet-and-greet plus a private overnight investigation with the paranormal stars.

Van Reiner, owner of Whispers Estate, a house in Mitchell that is purportedly haunted, announced that Ben Hansen, team leader and investigator of "Fact or Faked Paranormal Files," and Britt Griffith of "Ghost Hunters" and "Ghost Hunters International" will be at Spring Mill Inn starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday. There will be lectures by both investigators, a fund-raising auction, and a meet-and-greet time at Spring Mill.

Those with VIP tickets will be able to gather at Whispers Estate on Warren Street in Mitchell at 9:30 p.m. for the private meet-and-greet and overnight investigation.
Hansen holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and criminology from the University of Utah. He worked for the State of Utah on a county special victims unit task force and later joined the FBI as a criminal investigator.

He leads a team of five who investigate all types of paranormal occurrences, including UFOs, Bigfoot sightings and sea monsters, in addition to hauntings.
A new season of "Fact or Faked" begins in April on Syfy.

Griffith has been with "Ghost Hunters" and "GHI" since about 2008 when he was asked to join the team for an important investigation. He had always enjoyed investigating paranormal claims on his own, which led to a friendship with TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) founders Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson. Since joining the crew, he has traveled the world doing paranormal investigations.

Whispers Estate was rated the fourth most terrifying place in American by the Travel Channel in October of 2010. The segment on Whispers Estate continues to be its most popular episodes.

The former doctor's residence is being reviewed by production companies for the filming of additional documentaries and TV episodes of "Ghost Hunters" or "Fact or Faked."
VIP tickets to the event are sold out, but tickets to the event and auction as will available for the general public at $30 each.

Whispers Estate has donated the use of its location for the VIP functions. All proceeds raised will go to the Lost Limb Foundation, a 501c3 corporation that provides assistance to amputee children who are in need of medical and prosthetic assistance.
In addition to Saturday night's event, Whispers still has openings for five people for a public paranormal investigation on Friday night. The investigation is from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. and includes a tour of the house and guided paranormal investigations throughout the house.
