WASHINGTON)(Washington Times-Herald) - Fifty years of show basketball tradition will be dribbling, passing and dunking its way through Washington as the B-Flat Bombers take on the Harlem Wizards.

The Harlem Wizards will be coming to the Washington Hatchet Gymnasium at 7 p.m. on April 13 to put on a show and raise some funds for the Washington High School band.

"It's going to be a lot of family fun," the band parent in charge of planning the event, Kenny Showalter said. "Its a comedy game and it will feature a team of local people."

The team taking on the Wizards is called the B-Flat Bombers and will consist of local teachers, principals and even city officials such as Mayor Joe Wellman. The team will be coached by Dave Omer, who coached the Hatchets to a state championship in 2005.

At halftime of the exhibition, ticket holders will have an opportunity to take home a 2013 Ford Mustangcourtesy of Bill Dobson Ford. Contestants will be drawn at random and given 25 seconds to make a lay up, a free throw, a three pointer and a half court shot in succession.

All proceeds from the event will go to fund the WHS band program.

"Last year, the program was very successful," Showalter said. "I guess you could say that they're back by popular demand."

According to the Harlem Wizards website, fans will see amazing basketball talent combined with hilarious comedy. The athleticism, tricks, fancy teamwork and ball handling wizardry, plus wild dunks not even seen in NBA games will engage and wow even the most avid hoops fan. The wizards combine preplanned comedic acts with spontaneous humor that fans will find laugh out loud funny.

The band will also be raising funds through their "Drive One for Your School" program at Bill Dobson Ford.

"The Ford Motor Company is helping school systems generate funds for clubs and organizations throughout America," Dobson said. "They knew that schools were being squeezed for funds and wanted to help. Ford is giving $20 to the band for every test drive that takes place on March 31. We want to invite the community out to take a test drive and support local schools."

The event will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 31 at Bill Dobson Ford.

Fans wishing to see the B-Flat Bombers take on the Wizards can purchase advance tickets at the dealership as well as at both Washington Subway locations and the Holiday Inn Express. Tickets in advance will be $6, while tickets at the door will be $10.
