(MITCHELL) - On Saturday, Mitchell's Dave Nolan will be inducted into the Indiana ASA Wayne L. Myers Hall of Fame in the commissioner category.

The Hall has existed since 1978 and includes 262 members. The ceremony will be conducted at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomington.

To be selected, a person or team must have been active in the Indiana ASA for at least 10 years and have attained statewide and/or national level fame or notoriety for their activity.

For nearly 30 years, Dave Nolan dedicated resources and time to the game of softball.
He loved the game. He played the game, and he governed the game. Nolan died unexpectedly on March 27, 2011.

Softball comrades filed past his casket while the song, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," played, knowing they'd lost one of the sport's biggest supporters.

Nolan, who lived and owned an accounting firm in Mitchell, became a member of the Indiana ASA's executive board in the late 1980s, and served as president of the board for many terms. He served as the group's accountant and oversaw the finance committee throughout his term on the executive board.

He sponsored teams throughout the state, and he played until the mid-1990s. He became commissioner of the organization in 2010 and served in that capacity until his death.

Mick Renneisen of Bloomington, who took over the spot of commissioner for the Indiana Amateur Softball Association after Nolan's death, nominated Nolan for the hall of fame.
