Salon Owner Found Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting Two Customers

Last updated on Friday, March 9, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - Truong Vu, owner of Pink Nail Salon on East Third Street in Bloomington, was found guilty of sexually assaulting two of his customers.

The jury found him guilty of four felony counts of criminal deviate conduct, criminal confinement, sexual battery and criminal confinement. He will be sentenced on April 2.

In December 2008, two women reported to police two separate incidents that occurred within eight days of one another. The women did not know each other, but their accounts were similar. It began with a body massage and ended with Vu groping and fondling them. Both alleged assaults took place at the end of the day at the salon, in a room designated for waxing, after Vu locked the doors.

Vu was arrested in January 2009, and held on bail for $40,000.

Prosecuting attorney Rebecca Veidlinger said Vu thought he could get away with it. She said he identified his victims, isolated them and then sexually assaulted them.

Near the end of the three-day trial in the Monroe Circuit Court, Vu testified on his own behalf and denied that he had sexually assaulted his customers. Instead, he claimed that the customers consented to the massages and said one of the clients even requested it.
