Pro Golfer Craig Bowden Had Emergency Appendectomy

Last updated on Friday, March 23, 2012

(BEDFORD) - Bedford native and pro golfer Craig Bowden listed in recent Nationwide Tour golf events will not play.

Bowden underwent an emergency appendectomy last Friday and is on the mend.

"I was having a lot of pain in my lower right stomach. It wouldn't go away and I couldn't sleep," Bowden said via email. "After doing a little research on the internet I found that I needed to go to the hospiltal. I drove down at 3 a.m. and went to the ER. They did a CAT scan and said it was going to need surgery.

Bowden is still in some pain and had to withdraw from the Nationwide event in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Bowden plans on playing in the upcoming Saboba Classic in southern California and the Stonebrae Classic just outside San Francisco.
