(BEDFORD) - A Otwell man died Friday after he crashed his mo-ped and was impaled with a fence post.

Rickey James White, 56, Otwell, died at the scene according to Lawrence County Coroner John Sherrill.

Lawrence County Police received a call at 4:02 p.m. An Indiana University Health Bedford Ambulance was all ready at the scene.

The accident happened off Peerless Road near Peerless Quarry Road.

Lawrence County Police say White was pinned under his 2012 Taotao mo-ped.

According to a Lawrence County Police report for some unknown reason White drove off the north side of the road and over the embankment and was impaled by a metal fence post through the right side of his back and vertically into his chest on his right side.

Emergency workers lifted the mo-ped off the rider. Also, crews from the Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Department and Bedford Fire Department arrived to assist.

Police said emergency workers administered CPR. Sherriff says White died at the scene at 4:46 p.m.
