Mitchell Man's Dump Truck Takes Down Power Lines

Last updated on Friday, March 23, 2012

(WASHINGTON) - An accident disrupted traffic and electric power along State Road 57 South of Washington Wednesday.

At 8:34 a.m. a tri-axel dump truck was unloading a load of gravel in a private drive about three miles south of Washington.

After dumping the load, the driver, William Conley of Mitchell, pulled onto the roadway heading north, without completely lowering his dump bed. The bed caught electric wires and the tension on the wires snapped a utility pole.

The falling utility lines, fell on a southbound 2008 Volvo being driven by Aaron Andrews
of Plainville. The wires forced Andrews car off the road and into a ditch.

Conley's truck continued northbound where he clipped a set of fiber-optic cables.

No injuries were reported but damages were estimated at $25,000.
