Missing Bicknell Man's Body Found

(OAKTOWN) - On March 11th, at approximately 1:08 p.m., the Knox Co. Sheriff’s Department received a report that a concerned citizen had located human remains in a field about 1 mile from the Wolf Hill Rd. area near Oaktown.

When Deputies arrived, they confirmed that these were human remains and the scene was secured. Additionally, a Knox Co. Crime Scene Detective was called to the scene, along with Knox Co. Chief Deputy Coroner Gordon Becher.

After Chief Deputy Becher arrived, the identification and the remains were confirmed as that of 19-year-old Clinton S. Hamilton, of Bicknell. Hamilton had been missing since about 4 a.m. on December 11, 2011, when his abandoned vehicle was located in floodwaters on Wolf Hill Rd. near Oaktown.

Since December 11, 2011, an ongoing intensive search had been conducted involving Conservation Officers from the Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources, Air Support from the Indiana State Police, area fire departments, students from the Vincennes University Conservation Law Enforcement Program, and the Knox Co. Sheriff's Dept. This search has involved divers, ATVs, boats, air support, and other means.

The Knox Co. Sheriff's Dept. also assigned a detective full-time to work the case. The detective also conducted several interviews of possible leads in Mr. Hamilton's disappearance.

Additionally since Mr. Hamilton has been missing, his family and several of his friends have been constantly searching the area as well.

An autopsy is scheduled today, by Forensic Pathologist, Dr. John Heidinsfelder, of Evansville.

The actual recovery process of Mr. Hamilton on March 11, 2012 , was conducted by the Knox Co, Sheriff's Dept.; Conservation Officers of the Indiana Dept. of natural Resources, the Knox Co. Coroner's Office, the Oaktown Fire Dept., and Knox Co. EMS family.
