(LOOGOOTEE) - Mayor Noel Harty boldly predicted Monday night that the Loogootee Lions boys basketball team will win the Southport Semi-state Saturday.
During the monthly city council meeting, Harty thanked the city's police and firefighters for honoring the basketball players and coaches by giving them rides through the city on fire trucks following wins at the North Daviess Sectional and Loogootee Regional.
The Lions (20-4) meet Edinburgh (23-2) at Southport Saturday. Harty asked the police and firefighters to honor the team again after they win at semistate.
